PAMELA WILLIAMS SMITH
Clinical Psychologist
BA(Hons), MAPS, FCCLP, MICCP, ISCP
Fellow, APS College of Clinical Psychologists
Member, International College of Coaching Psychology
Pamela Williams Smith is the founder of Macquarie Street Psychologists and brings extensive experience across clinical psychology, organisational consulting, executive coaching and performance.
She trained in psychology at the University of New South Wales, completing a BA (Hons), before undertaking the DFAT Cadet Programme in Canberra. She later worked at Birkbeck College, London University, and completed a three-year research study for the Commonwealth Bank of Australia under Professor Wilfred Jarvis at UNSW, involving approximately 25,000 employees and examining motivation and turnover.
The opportunity to work across many industries developed through both consulting and clinical work. The flexibility of clinical practice also enabled Pamela to raise three young children while continuing to pursue her professional career.
For six years, Pamela combined her Macquarie Street private practice with group clinical work at St Vincent’s Hospital and CRUFAD under the supervision of Professor Gavin Andrews. During this time, she developed and conducted an eight-week Anxiety Management Programme, while also being involved in other clinical group work.
Pamela’s work has also included corporations in Australia and overseas, as well as elite tennis players in the USA and UK competing at Grand Slam level. Over the course of her career, she has had the opportunity to work with people from all walks of life.

Pamela is a Fellow of the Clinical College of the Australian Psychological Society and held a position on the Committee for Coaching Psychologists for approximately six years. She has also conducted stress-management lectures and workshops at the Australian College of Applied Psychology.
At Macquarie Street Psychologists, Pamela is committed to high standards of professionalism, ethics and confidentiality, while drawing on current research and developments in psychology.
She believes it takes courage to seek professional help for psychological difficulties. Her approach is to support each person through a mutually agreed and practical process, helping them understand how difficulties have developed, find relief from distress and identify ways to reduce the likelihood of relapse.
Through this collaborative process, new perspectives and meaningful change can become possible.

She is a registered psychologist and experienced educational leader, bringing extensive experience across psychology, education and student wellbeing.
Steph’s understanding of both psychological development and educational environments allows her to work holistically with young people and families, particularly where emotional wellbeing, learning, relationships and school intersect.
Her approach is warm, collaborative and psychologically grounded. She takes the time to understand what may be happening beneath the surface, helping young people develop insight, strengthen relationships, build practical strategies and navigate challenges with greater confidence.
At the heart of Steph’s work is the belief that psychological support is not simply about managing difficulties, but about helping young people understand themselves, recognise their strengths and develop the capacity to thrive.
